How to improve battery run time on Acer laptops

If you want to maximize the life of your laptop or netbook between charges, check out some tips below. Reducing the number of power-consuming devices will greatly increase battery life without reducing your work efficiency.

Devices that consume relatively high power, such as:

1. Wireless network communication, such as wireless network card and Bluetooth;

2. LCD panel;

3. DVD drive or Blu-ray drive;

 4. Processors and graphics chips, especially in high-end notebooks;

Note: All batteries will gradually reduce their capacity after being used for a period of time. While these tips can help improve battery runtime, they cannot change the effects of battery aging. It is a normal phenomenon that the battery capacity becomes smaller after the battery has been used for a period of time. It does not mean that there is a hardware failure in the battery.

To improve your battery life, you can try the following:

1. Disable wireless communications when not in use. Please check your laptop user manual for instructions on how to disable wireless networking and Bluetooth.

2. Set the screen brightness to the lowest comfortable level you feel. Lower brightness settings consume less power.

3. When working in battery mode, avoid reading CD, DVD or Blu-ray as much as possible. Remove the disc from the optical drive when not in use.

4. Use an optimized power plan; current operating systems provide multiple options to optimize your system's power usage.

5. Try to avoid running heavy tasks, such as video editing or playing 3D games. When you must run this type of task in battery mode, please back up your current task to avoid unnecessary data loss.

Some models of notebooks come with the ePowerManagement application pre-installed. Using this software can save your battery usage as much as possible to extend the use time.
